Experience in estimating, electrical design, operation, and commissioning of substations, switchgear, ATP/ATS, emergency power systems and their control systems, power monitoring, and electrical protection. Experience with medium voltage systems. Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of high voltage substations, medium or low voltage electrical distribution systems, AC/DC systems, and associated power management or SCADA tools. Experience with cross-discipline teams (structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, mechanical, architectural). Experience working with data center equipment and environments (switchgear, generators, transformers, controls, security monitoring systems, fire safety systems), with an understanding of start up/commissioning processes. You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians. With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical). The Data Center Electrical Engineer (EE) is responsible for the technical support of the localized design effort (Campus Plan through to Detailed Design), for field engineering support through project delivery and commissioning, and for engineering reviews of the close out documentation. In addition, and depending on the Campus activities, the EE is responsible for supporting the electrical design and delivery on Moves, Adds, Retrofits, Changes, Upgrades and Security projects (MARCUS) within operational data centres. The EE is responsible for liaising with the Data Center Operations (DC Ops) team on all electrical warranty issues. Participate in the selection and onboarding of new contractors and vendors. Act as an electrical subject matter expert in Data Center Engineering. Contribute to the Health, Safety and Environment Plan related to the electrical engineering scope, and design and construction compliance. Contribute to and review the Quality and Commissioning Plans for the electrical discipline. Support electrically relevant Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and all off and on site commissioning. Provide technical leadership to the projects, support and optimize project design, scope, schedule, quality, commissioning and safety for electrical discipline. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
