Windows Kernel Software Developer Location: Orlando, FL – Onsite Preferred | Remote Available Compensation: $140,000–$180,000 Base Salary, based on experience Benefits: Comprehensive Benefits + 401(k) Job Summary Our client, a global cybersecurity leader providing enterprise-level solutions for the Managed Services Provider (MSP) industry , is seeking an experienced Windows Kernel Software Developer to join its engineering team. This is a highly technical, low-level systems development role focused on Windows kernel development, system architecture, device drivers, and core operating system components . The ideal candidate has extensive C programming experience, a deep understanding of Windows internals, and a strong background developing, debugging, and maintaining kernel-level software. Job Responsibilities Develop, debug, test, and maintain kernel-level software using C. Design and maintain low-level system components and core operating system infrastructure. Develop and support Windows kernel components and system-level functionality. Perform system validation and testing from user space using appropriate user-space APIs. Support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of major system components. Develop and maintain device drivers across technologies such as USB, networking, graphics, video, storage, MTD, and power management. Diagnose complex kernel, driver, memory, and system-level performance issues. Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD processes supporting system software development. Support Windows platform porting and distribution maintenance. Collaborate with engineering teams on architecture, testing, debugging, and product development. Produce reliable, maintainable, and secure code for enterprise cybersecurity products. Qualifications 7+ years of professional software development experience. Advanced proficiency with the Windows operating system and Windows internals. Strong professional experience programming in C. Experience developing low-level system software. Strong understanding of computer architecture and server platform hardware. Experience with system software development using C and Python. Experience developing, debugging, and testing kernel-level code. Understanding of user-space APIs and interaction between user-space and kernel components. Experience with device driver development and support. Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. Preferred Experience Windows kernel programming and memory management. Device driver development involving USB, networking, graphics, video, storage, or power management. Virtualization technologies including VMware, Xen, KVM, or Hyper-V. Knowledge of SR-IOV, SIOV, DMA, and PCIe. Virtualization and containerization technologies, including Docker and Python virtual environments. Linux kernel internals, including process scheduling, memory management, concurrency, synchronization, memory allocation, and file systems. Networking or storage subsystem architecture. ARM architecture. Atlassian tools including Jira, Confluence, and Crucible. Subversion or similar version-control systems. CI/CD architecture and maintenance.
