As a Staff, Cloud Engineering – Polcy-as-Code (PaC) you will be working closely with platform engineering team for the design, building Policy-as-Code into foundational and transformational projects. You will be at the forefront of managing and optimizing our cloud operations for the cloud platforms and services via PaC. If you’re passionate about cutting-edge technologies, cloud-native solutions, and driving innovation, this role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of digital banking. You will modernize both development practices and tools for the existing and new platform products. You have proven record of automating complex systems based on cloud resources and have strong experience in implementing highly available solutions. You will enhance the team’s development process and automated testing practices. When required, you are expected to be a part of after-hours Policy-as-Code deployments, and incident management in the evenings or weekends. Is this role right for you? In this role, you will : Participate in design discussions focused on scalability, design, and implementation best practices. Work closely with Solution Architects, Cloud Operations teams, Developers, Vendors, and Business teams to determine, prioritize, develop, test, implement, and monitor Policy-as-Code in Cloud environments. Participate in planning, retrospective sessions, attending stand-ups, etc. Support application teams on the use of cloud platform including providing guidance on design patterns, best practices, and security considerations. Prepare change requests, plan, and coordinate Policy-as-Code implementations for production and non-production environments in Cloud environments. Provide support for changes affected by Policy-as-Code, participating in the team’s 24/7 standby schedule, when required. Promote Policy-as-Code as a way of improving the Bank’s Cloud Security Posture Management practice. Foster a collaborative culture to deepen partner relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. Champion a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment. Skills Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have: A minimum of 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering roles Must have 2+ years of Policy-as-Code experience with strong knowledge in implementing Open Policy Agent (Rego), Azure Policy, and/or GCP Organization Policy Constraints At least 4+ years of hands-on technical work experience in implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) delivery pipelines e.g. HashiCorp’s Terraform. At least 6 years of hands-on technical working experience of using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) Tools (e.g. Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Enterprise, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining pipelines. Hands-on experience with cloud environments (GCP, Azure). Enthusiasm for cloud transformation and cloud platform/components/services development. Strong communication skills, both written and spoken; of specific importance the strong communication to a technical audience. Attention to details, high standards for quality. Good writing and maintaining skills related to documentation. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (master’s degree preferred). What's in it for you?
