Role Description The full-time BC/BE Clinical Genetics Physician will provide comprehensive clinical care, including evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with genetic conditions in an academic medical center setting. Members of the Division of Genetic and Genomics Medicine provide outpatient care and inpatient consultation service in cancer, prenatal, pediatric, adult and metabolic clinics at UCI Health affiliated clinics and hospitals. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting outpatient and inpatient consultations, ordering and interpreting genetic tests, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and participating in case conferences. The physician will provide genetic counseling in partnership with genetic counselors, contribute to care plans, and ensure evidence-based, patient-centered care that aligns with institutional protocols and current guidelines. Faculty also participate in didactic and clinical training of genetic counseling and medical students, genetics residents, other trainees, and participate in clinical research or quality improvement initiatives, scholarly activities within the Department. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Orange and Irvine, CA. Qualifications M.D. or M.D./Ph.D and/or equivalent. California physician and surgeon license or eligibility to become licensed. ABMGG board-certification or active candidacy in Clinical Genetics and Genomics or another relevant specialty. Demonstrated clinical expertise in medical genetics. Demonstrated capabilities for teaching, professional service, and/or research suitable for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series. Ability to collaborate effectively with genetic counselors, laboratory specialists, and multidisciplinary clinical teams to develop coordinated care plans. Strong communication skills for discussing complex genetic information with patients, families, and colleagues in a clear and culturally sensitive manner.
