We are seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic *Early Childhood Assistant (ECA)* to join our Christian Montessori childcare team. The ECA will work collaboratively with and support the *Montessori Guide, Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE), and classroom team* in providing a safe, nurturing, peaceful, and engaging environment for children. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with young children and is committed to supporting Montessori principles and the Christian values of our centre. Duties & Responsibilities * Support the Montessori Guide and RECE with the daily classroom program and routines. * Assist in preparing and maintaining a peaceful, organized, and engaging Montessori classroom. * Support children in using Montessori materials and participating in hands-on learning activities. * Encourage independence, confidence, responsibility, concentration, and positive social development. * Supervise and engage children during classroom activities, indoor and outdoor play, meals, rest periods, and transitions. * Assist children with daily routines, including handwashing, dressing, toileting, meals, and personal care as appropriate. * Support positive behaviour guidance using respectful and developmentally appropriate approaches. * Assist the Montessori Guide and RECE in supporting children's individual needs and abilities. * Observe children's interests, interactions, and needs and communicate relevant information to the Montessori Guide and RECE. * Help maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and well-organized classroom. * Assist with cleaning, sanitizing, classroom preparation, and organization. * Support age-appropriate Christian activities, including Bible stories, songs, prayer, and faith-based learning as directed by the classroom team. * Model Christian values such as kindness, compassion, patience, honesty, respect, gratitude, and service. * Work collaboratively with educators and staff to provide consistent, high-quality care. * Follow all health and safety procedures, centre policies, and applicable Ontario childcare requirements. * Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development as required. * Follow the guidance and direction of the Montessori Guide, RECE, supervisor, and centre leadership. Qualifications * *Minimum 2 years of childcare experience preferred.* * Previous experience working with young children in a childcare, preschool, daycare, or Montessori setting is preferred. * ECA education/certification is an asset. * Montessori experience or training is an asset. * Knowledge of child development and early learning practices. * Strong communication and teamwork skills. * Caring, patient, dependable, responsible, and professional. * Ability to work effectively as part of a classroom team. * Current First Aid/CPR certification is an asset. * Vulnerable Sector Check and other required documentation will be required in accordance with applicable requirements. * Willingness to work in and support a Christian faith-based environment.
