Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: Construction. Service. Repair. Various locations. Maintenance. Commercial. Residential. Installation. Troubleshooting/diagnostic. Electrical contractor. Troubleshooting. Tasks: Install electrical controls and panel boxes. Replace and repair electrical controls and panel boxes. Professionalism in customer service. Keep maintenance reports and documentation. Design and construct single-phase service for single or multimeter installations. Splice, join and connect wires. Design and construct low voltage (30 to 750V) multiphase service for single or multimeter installations. Test and measure voltage, loads, ground faults integrity of circuits. Determine appropriate selection of materials and methods for hazardous locations. Troubleshoot and isolate faults. Connect power to audio and visual equipment. Install surface mount and/or overhead cables. Supervise other workers. Ground and bond electrical equipment, systems and structures including swimming pools and hot tubs. Estimate costs and materials. Renovate electrical systems in residential and commercial structures. Conduct preventive maintenance programs. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Install, mount, fasten, align and adjust parts, components, wiring and harnesses to subassemblies and assemblies using hand and small power tools. Connect cables, tubes and wires. Check products for quality control. Assemble circuit breakers, switches or other electrical control equipment and position and fasten components into assembly casings. Document work completed. Install electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, lighting fixtures and other electrical components. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Electrician Trade Certification. Exhibit preparation experience: Lighting. Equipment and machinery experience: Conventional electrical devices. Dry cell and storage batteries. High voltage equipment. Instrumentation. Motors and controls. Solid state devices. Hand tools. Area of specialization: Emergency power system. Lighting system. Transportation/travel information: Vehicle supplied by employer. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Attention to detail. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Personal suitability: Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication.
