Roasting and serving great coffee is important but it shouldn?t tax our environment. *Job Summary* * The Barista role is at its core one of the most important roles at Propeller. Baristas are the team members that animate our cafes, make exceptional coffee, and provide stellar customer service. The Barista will report directly to both the Assistant Manager and the Cafe Manager, and is responsible for daily service operations, including: outstanding customer service, performing opening, midday, and closing procedures, preparation of coffee & food to high standards, maintaining cleanliness, restocking retail and service shelves, and working together with management and colleagues in a fast-paced environment. *NOC Number* *Job Type* Full-time *Pay* $19.00- $19.50/hour + gratuities *Benefits* Eligible for extended health & dental after probation period. *Hours of work* 15-20 Hours/week (Part-Time) *Hours of Operation* Monday to Saturday 10:00am - 9:00pm Sunday 10:00am - 8:00pm *Tasks and Responsibilities* * Ensuring the highest standards of quality in coffee, food and customer experience; * Ensuring the highest standards in the preparation of and knowledge of specialty coffee, taking guidance from both the Assistant Manager and Cafe Manager; * Understanding efficient workflow and ensuring customer queues are managed accordingly; * Assisting fellow team members to execute daily service operations; * Cleaning, restocking, merchandising and general upkeep of the cafe environment; * Operating POS and following cash handling, safety and security procedures outlined by Propeller Coffee; * Providing feedback to management on operations, work environment, and safety; * Maintaining punctual & consistent attendance *Skills and Abilities* * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; * Must be highly motivated to learn; * Good organizational skills; * Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment *Qualifications and Requirements*: * Applicants must be 16 years of age or older * Applicants with previous experience in a similar role is an asset * Smart serve, Food Handlers and WHMIS certification is an asset * Knowledge of POS systems - esp Square - is an asset * Specialty coffee knowledge and ability to dial-in and pour latte art is an asset *We are an equal opportunity employer committed to hiring a diverse workforce.
