*Job Overview* We are seeking a skilled *Framer/Studio Carpenter* to join our art studio team. The ideal candidate will have experience in fine carpentry and be comfortable working with canvas, wood, and other materials to produce high-quality frames and supports for original artworks and prints. This role requires precision, craftsmanship, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The Framer/Carpenter will play a key role in constructing custom frames, structural supports for artworks, and helping with the presentation and protection of valuable pieces. *Duties* * Construct custom wooden frames for canvas paintings and prints. * Build and stretch canvas onto stretcher bars, ensuring proper tension and alignment. * Create structural supports for large-format works and installations. * Work closely with artists and studio staff to ensure framing meets aesthetic and archival standards. * Cut and prepare wood and other framing materials with precision. * Measure and assemble framing components accurately. * Sand, and finish frames as required. * Handle artworks with care and ensure safe mounting and transport support. * Maintain a clean and organized workshop, and ensure tools are in good working order. * Assist with occasional heavy lifting of materials and large artworks. *Requirements* * Proven experience as a carpenter, framer, or similar hands-on role?experience in an art or gallery setting is an asset. * Knowledge of framing techniques, tools, and materials. * Ability to measure, cut, and assemble with a high degree of accuracy. * Comfort working with delicate materials such as canvas, prints, and painted surfaces. * Ability to stretch and mount canvas preferred. * Physical stamina for standing, lifting, and handling large or heavy works. * Excellent attention to detail and respect for artistic integrity. * Ability to work independently and take initiative, while also contributing to a team environment. *Join our creative and collaborative studio where craftsmanship meets art.
