Position PhilosophyUnder the direction or supervision of the Support Services Supervisor the Laundry person is responsible for creating a human habitat and providing care and services to meet the needs of the elders in the cottages. The Laundry person works cooperatively and respectfully with residents, coworkers, families, visitors and volunteers to create a positive and pleasant environment in our community.Position DescriptionReporting to the Support Service Supervisor, the Laundry person is responsible for laundry, in a retirement community. Also responsible for ensuring resident well being and safety.Responsibilities:Provides personal laundry services for care residents in accordance with established work routines.To ensure residents are provided with a secure living environment, patrols the building and investigates building access violations in accordance with established policies and procedures.Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:Successful completion of secondary school or equivalentBuilding Service Worker Certificate, Institutional Aide Certificate and/or Basic food Safe CertificateInstitutional Cleaning experienceAbility to read and communicate effectively in EnglishDemonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of continuing care residentsEffective interpersonal and conflict resolution skillAbility to organize work and work under strict time constraints.Special RequirementsComplexity and Judgment· The work involves the performance of a variety of routine and non-routine tasks requiring the application of specialized processes and methods. Almost all of the tasks have established procedures and reporting time frames, however on rare occasions there is a requirement for independent thinking and sound judgment.AccountabilityThis position is responsible for:· Launders care residents' personal clothing within established guidelines and timeframes.· Patrolling the building in accordance with established schedules and work routines.Supervision· This position has no Supervisory responsibilitiesPerformance Requirements:Standards/Scope of practiceAdheres to Standards of practice to the licensing body they are registered with.Works in a safe manner and uses due diligence in the performance of duties.Must be in good health and have the physical ability to squat, lift and stretch compatible with performance of duties.Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness.Must be able to operate related equipment.Must work in a co operative manner with other employees and able to work effectively under strict time constraintsQIActively participates in quality initiatives including but not limited to; monitoring, data collection, planning and evaluating.Other Related DutiesOther related duties may be required to fulfill our commitment to providing a "human habitat".Must respond to emergency situationsMust provide a police record check and medical certificationHours of WorkRosecrest Communities provides service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
