Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Dental laboratory technology/technician. Work setting: Denturist's practice. Tasks: Modify dental devices including full or partial dentures, orthodontic appliances, inlays, onlays, clasps and bands. Prepare plaster models and moulds. Perform administrative functions for the dental laboratory. Maintain and order supplies. Mould wax over dentures set-up. Prepare wax bite-blocks and impression trays. Polish and buff dentures. Technical expertise (dental): Plastering. Packing. Waxing-up. Polishing. Assembly. Area of specialization: Full dentures. Partial dentures.
