Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Education Services | Second Language Programs, the Education Consultant supports schools in the implementation, development and evaluation of programs of study and provides teachers with lesson planning, class management, and instructional materials. FUNCTION & DUTIES:Support and ensure high-quality and culturally relevant education for Nunavik communities, specifically by supporting Primary and Secondary teachers in the subject areas of math and science in the French or English sector;Participate in the development of KI?s competency-based programs, which are aligned with Inuit culture, language and values, and instruct teachers in their implementation;Develop learning and evaluation situations as well as teaching materials for math and science in the Primary and Secondary sectors, in French or English;Set up and lead training sessions, workshops, and collaborative teams with teachers in person or online;Regularly update inventories of materials for math and science;Ensure oversight and dissemination as regards practices and teaching materials, and follow up with math and science teachers to contribute to their professional development and to the quality of education services;Support projects requiring creative thinking and problem-solving skills in the subject areas of math and science;Collaborate with team members of Education Services and of other departments;Carry out other related tasks at the discretion of the immediate supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor?s degree in a relevant specialization. The School Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board. REQUIREMENTS:Legal qualification to teach in the province of Québec;Experience as a teacher (teaching in Nunavik is considered an asset);Fluency in French and/or English, as well as working knowledge of the second language;Extensive knowledge of Primary and/or Secondary math and science concepts;Computer literacy (Microsoft 365, including TEAMS and other education technology apps);Frequent travel to Nunavik communities;Knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset. CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2104: from $56,670 to $105,432 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
