DISTRICT OF SAANICHPARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENTRECREATION DIVISIONGORDON HEAD RECREATION CENTRE Aquatic Instructor IIIUp to 16 Casual Positions The District of Saanich's Parks, Recreation and Community Services department is seeking a team player to help drive our mission of Healthy Nature, Healthy People, and Healthy Community, while supporting our vision: a Saanich where everyone belongs.You'll work within a team where service excellence, learning and sharing, and feedback and accountability are highly valued, and where communication, trust, respect, and positivity form the foundation for everything we do.Parks, Recreation and Community Services is seeking enthusiastic and experienced Aquatic Instructor IIIs to join the Recreation Division at Gordon Head Recreation Centre. This role is ideal for aquatic professionals who are committed to providing safe, engaging, and high-quality lifesaving instruction while supporting a positive experience for program participants.Under the general direction of a Recreation Programmer or Program Technician, the Aquatic Instructor III plans and delivers instruction for lifesaving programs. Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, instructing and evaluating participants according to recognized agency standards, maintaining records and reports, enforcing pool rules, monitoring the general maintenance and safety of the pool deck and area, and ensuring participant safety and program quality.Requirements include completion of Grade 12, current Lifesaving Instructor award certified through the Lifesaving Society BC & Yukon Branch, Standard First Aid and CPR-C, and at least six months of teaching experience. Employment is subject to provision of a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) check no older than 6 months. Renewal of PIC-VS is required as per policy.The successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts as operationally required.
