We pride ourselves on providing an energetic, respectful, and inclusive work environment where every team member is valued. *About the Role* Softworks Group Inc. is looking for a *Technical Support Enginee*r to join our Customer Success team. This is a technical, client-facing software engineering role that combines application support with client-specific development and customization work. Approximately half of the role involves technical support, while the other half involves billable customization work such as custom reports, data fixes, workflows, modules, and other client-specific enhancements. You?ll work directly with clients to understand their needs and manage assigned work from initial discussion through troubleshooting, development, testing, and implementation, with support from the team when needed. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their software development career who already has some practical software experience and wants to develop strong skills in databases, enterprise software, client communication, and real-world problem solving. *What You'll Do* * Work directly with clients to understand requests, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support through tickets, meetings, and screen sharing * Manage assigned support and customization work from initial discussion through development, testing, and implementation * Write complex queries and stored procedures using SQL and T-SQL * Perform data analysis, mapping, corrections, and other database-related work * Develop client-specific solutions, including custom reports, workflows, modules, and web forms using XML and JavaScript * Build Power BI reports when required * Test and debug solutions and implement changes within client environments * Collaborate with other engineers and team members to resolve more complex issues *Required Qualifications* * Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field * Some practical software development or technical software experience * Intermediate skills in SQL/T-SQL, HTML, and JavaScript * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English * High attention to detail and the ability to work carefully in production environments * Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to clients * Ability to manage technical requests independently while collaborating with team members when needed * Ability and willingness to learn complex software and client business processes Experience with XML, Power BI, database troubleshooting, SaaS applications, or client-facing technical work is an asset. *Location and Work Eligibility* Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in Canada and must not require employer sponsorship now or in the future. Candidates must also be able to work full-time from our Edmonton office (located in Lynwood Centre until end of September 2026) during the initial training period before eventually transitioning to a hybrid schedule. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
