We are seeking a reliable and motivated Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) to join our rehabilitation team on a full-time basis (37.5 hours/week) at the Long Term Care facility located in the Hunt Club and Riverside Drive area of Ottawa. Position Overview Working under the supervision and direction of the Registered Physiotherapist, the PTA will carry out individualized mobility, restorative, and therapeutic exercise programs to help residents maintain or improve their functional independence and physical well-being. Key Responsibilities: Implement individual and group therapy/exercise programs prescribed by the Registered Physiotherapist. Assist residents with mobility, transfers, range-of-motion exercises, and walking programs. Safely apply therapeutic modalities (e.g., heat/cold packs, TENS) as directed. Properly fit, set up, and assist residents with adaptive devices and mobility aids (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.). Document resident progress, attendance, and responses to treatment accurately and in a timely manner. Clean, sanitize, and maintain therapeutic equipment and treatment areas. Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including nurses and occupational therapists, to ensure comprehensive resident care. Qualifications: Education: Graduate of a recognized Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) diploma program. Experience: Previous experience working in a Long-Term Care (LTC) or geriatric environment preferred. Clearances: Vulnerable Sector Check (Police Check) required prior to start date. Skills: Strong communication, patience, empathy for seniors, and physically able to assist residents with transfers/weight-bearing tasks.
