Your mission You will play an important role within a dynamic and passionate Structural team, contributing to a wide variety of projects in the buildings and building science sector. Working closely with Engineers and Project Managers, you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of structural engineering services while helping maintain Englobe's high standards for quality, service and safety. As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will work in close collaboration with the Structural Engineering team in our Ottawa office. Your main responsibilities Participate in structural site investigations, inspections and reviews; collect field data and assist with the preparation of technical reports, inspection reports and compliance letters; Assist in the assessment and documentation of existing structural conditions through structural condition assessments and engineering studies; Support engineering calculations, analysis and design of structural elements including concrete, steel, masonry and wood, under the supervision of licensed Professional Engineers; Assist with the preparation and coordination of project deliverables, including technical reports, drawings and specifications; Collaborate with Engineers, Project Managers, clients and contractors throughout the project lifecycle; Support the Engineering team to meet project objectives related to scope, schedule and budget; Apply and promote Englobe's health and safety policies at all times. What makes you unique Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural option) or Structural Engineering from an accredited university (new graduates encouraged to apply); Registered or eligible to register as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with PEO (asset); Academic or co-op experience in structural engineering or construction (asset); Foundational knowledge of: Structural analysis and design principles (steel, concrete, wood, masonry); National Building Code of Canada and Ontario Building Code (asset); Exposure to structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, SAFI, etc.); Interest in site reviews and field investigations; Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in English required (French considered an asset); Comfortable working both independently and within a team environment; Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities; Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance; Valid driver's licence, access to a reliable vehicle and ability to travel throughout Ontario, as required. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
