About the role.McCain Foods (Canada) is seeking an Environmental Coordinator to join the Florenceville-Bristol, New Brunswick manufacturing team. In this role, you will support and coordinate the site’s Environmental Management System while overseeing key aspects of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) operations. Reporting to the Environmental Supervisor, you will play a critical role in environmental compliance, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and fostering a strong safety culture through the McCain Driving Impact (MDI) and SQCDPE framework. What you’ll be doing.Support and coordinate the site’s ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS).Ensure environmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements are communicated, maintained, and followed.Prepare and submit environmental reports required by provincial, federal, and internal stakeholders.Develop, implement, track, and report site environmental objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.Support internal and external environmental audits and compliance activities.Lead and support daily wastewater treatment operations, including process monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.Maximize biogas generation from the anaerobic lagoon system to support sustainability initiatives.Coordinate waste management processes, including mud removal, land application programs, landfill monitoring, and waste stream scheduling.Promote and reinforce safe work practices among employees and contractors, actively supporting health and safety initiatives.Lead and support WWTP operators, including scheduling, vacation planning, training, and performance support.Conduct laboratory testing, interpret results, and make process adjustments as required to ensure operational effectiveness.Support continuous improvement efforts that drive results across safety, quality, cost, delivery, people, and environmental performance. What you’ll need to be successful.Wastewater Treatment certification or equivalent relevant qualification.Experience in wastewater treatment operations, process troubleshooting, and wastewater management systems.Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, environmental, or industrial setting.Experience with laboratory analysis, environmental monitoring, and process optimization.Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.Experience supporting or maintaining ISO 14001 or other ISO management systems is preferred.Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety and promoting safe work practices.Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, coach, and support team members.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and enterprise systems such as SAP.Self-motivated, dependable, and results-oriented.Flexibility to support operational needs, continuous improvement activities, and business priorities. About the team.The Environmental Coordinator is part of the Florenceville-Bristol Manufacturing team and reports directly to the Environmental Supervisor. This role works closely with wastewater treatment operators, production teams, maintenance teams, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders to support environmental compliance, operational excellence, and sustainability initiatives across the facility.
