Position Overview Swiftbay Logistics Inc. is seeking a responsible, safety-conscious, and dependable *Class 1 Truck Driver* to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of freight, conducting required vehicle inspections, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with applicable transportation and safety regulations. This position is well suited to a professional driver who takes pride in safe driving, proper equipment care, reliable communication, and excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities * Safely operate Class 1 tractor-trailer combinations to transport freight along assigned routes. * Conduct and document required pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the tractor and trailer. * Identify and promptly report vehicle defects, mechanical concerns, damage, or safety issues. * Ensure cargo is properly distributed, secured, and transported in accordance with applicable regulations and company procedures. * Maintain accurate electronic or written records, including hours-of-service logs, trip inspection reports, bills of lading, delivery documents, fuel records, and other required paperwork. * Comply with applicable hours-of-service requirements and properly use the company's Electronic Logging Device (ELD), where required. * Follow all applicable traffic laws, commercial vehicle regulations, company safety policies, and operating procedures. * Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding pickups, deliveries, delays, road conditions, equipment concerns, and other operational matters. * Complete pickups and deliveries safely, professionally, and within reasonable scheduled timeframes. * Maintain professional and courteous relationships with customers, shippers, receivers, dispatch personnel, enforcement officers, and other road users. * Monitor vehicle condition during trips and promptly report any maintenance or repair requirements. * Follow company procedures relating to collisions, roadside inspections, breakdowns, emergencies, and adverse weather conditions. * Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of assigned equipment. * Perform other transportation-related duties reasonably assigned by the company. Qualifications and Experience * Valid Canadian Class 1 driver's licence or equivalent licence acceptable for the position. * Ability to safely operate tractor-trailer combinations. * Good understanding of commercial vehicle safety requirements and safe driving practices. * Knowledge of daily vehicle inspection procedures and defect-reporting requirements. * Familiarity with hours-of-service regulations and Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs). * Understanding of cargo securement and safe freight-handling practices. * Ability to maintain accurate trip, delivery, and compliance documentation. * Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills. * Ability to work independently and make responsible safety decisions while on the road. * Professional, dependable, and safety-focused attitude. * Acceptable driver's abstract and driving record in accordance with company and insurance requirements. * Previous commercial truck-driving experience is an asset.
