Our bakery is expanding, and we?re looking for a reliable, talented Baker to help us keep the ovens running and the shelves full. *What You?ll Do*: You?ll be the "glue" of our production team?handling everything from scaling and prep to finishing bakes. Whether you're assisting the lead baker or managing inventory, your work ensures our customers get the freshest treats every day. *What You Bring* * A genuine love for baking and high-quality standards. * Previous experience in a professional bakery setting. * The stamina for a 30-36-hour work week. * *Note:* We are *not* offering LMIA sponsorship at this time. * ability to work some 6 am starts and some 10 am starts through out the week REPORTS TO: Kitchen Manager/Supervisor, General Manager RESPONSIBILITIES: - Organize daily task lists for this position, and possibly other baking positions - Produce items on task lists - Follow recipes as specified, and record clarifications on the recipe as needed - properly and carefully operate kitchen equipment and machinery - notify supervisor of low stock or changes in production/ingredients - order inventory if ingredient ordering is part of assigned tasks - use ?FIRST IN FIRST OUT? method of stock rotation - ensure inventory is stored properly (ie - off the floor and organized) - record daily refrigeration and dishwasher temperatures, depending on shift - ensure daily production numbers/pars are established with General Manager ahead of time - ensure appropriate ingredient prep is completed before next day?s production - delegate appropriate tasks to prep positions, including cleaning- general cleaning may include vacuuming ingredient bins, washing down equipment, washing and storing dishes - maintain a tidy workspace, and ensure area is cleaned after tasks - monitor quality control, and delegate appropriate tasks if needed to bakers- lead bakers are expected to have sufficient knowledge to address questions from kitchen staff about production and recipes- help with training new kitchen staff - communicate positively and effectively with co-workers and management - other reasonable duties as assigned POSITION REQUIREMENTS: (outside Origin?s Employee Standards and Guidelines) - comfortable with written and spoken English - able to lift up to 25 kg without assistance - minimum 3 years professional cooking/baking experience - effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills - able to maintain good rapport with suppliers, customers and co-workers - positive attitude and willingness to learn - able to complete baking tasks required - Food Safe certification - knowledge of inventory management and basic supervisory skills.
