*We are looking for a people-focused, patient, experienced Café Attendant to join our Dining Services Team.* If you enjoy providing friendly and efficient service and creating a welcoming environment, this could be a great opportunity for you. Responsibilities for this vacant position include preparing and serving food and beverages, operating the POS system, handling cash, maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards, and ensuring the Café runs smoothly. We are also proud to share we are Great Place to Work Certified as of 2025, and we recently received an award for Community & Social Engagement from the Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA). *Qualifications:* * Ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written * Minimum one year of related experience in retail industry * Customer service experience * Exceptional listening and communication skills * Excellent time management and multitasking skills * Food Handler Certificate * Knowledge of POS system an asset * Track record of reliability and punctuality * Detail oriented with exceptional time management skills *Main Responsibilities:* * Open and close the café * Operate the cash register/POS system * Accurate ring in of proper PLU for sale items and/or barcode scan * Take orders and provide the highest quality of service to customers * Maintain proper security of cash * Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks, and food items * Ensure food and other ingredients are fresh * Inform costumers about menu items and specials of the day * Wash dishes, clean and sanitize service and seating area * Set up and stock the beverage area, prepare grab and go items, service ware and condiments * Receive, lift, and move cafe supplies/goods * Prepare order list and submit to the Executive Chef * Provide security for all shop items and cash * Check and record fridge and freezer temperature * Other duties as assigned *Mandatory Requirements:* * Cleared Vulnerable Sector Police Check * Two-Step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test * Completion of online mandatory training modules *Process:* _If your experience aligns with the needs of the role, and you have a thoughtful cover letter, next steps can include:_ 1) A brief initial phone call - This will last up to ten minutes and will involve questions about previous experience, how you handle certain situations and availability. 2) A first in-person interview - This interview will last between 30 & 45 minutes and will focus on getting to know you as a person as well as give you a chance to get to know Christie Gardens.
