Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Denturist's practice. Tasks: Design dental devices. Modify dental devices including full or partial dentures, orthodontic appliances, inlays, onlays, clasps and bands. Prepare plaster models and moulds. Supervise technical staff. Train other dental technicians. Perform administrative functions for the dental laboratory. Mould wax over dentures set-up. Finish metal framework of dentures. Prepare wax bite-blocks and impression trays. Pack plastic material in moulds to form full or partial dentures. Polish and buff dentures. Employ creative problem solving to identify opportunities for process improvement in bed assignment, transfer, patient flow and resource utilization. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Technical expertise (dental): Plastering. Packing. Waxing-up. Casting. Polishing. Assembly. Area of specialization: Full dentures. Partial dentures. Orthodontic appliances. Chrome castings. Analog and digital signal. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Tight deadlines. Repetitive tasks.
