WOLFE Family Wellness Addictions Counsellor and Facilitator - Looking for someone can start no later than August 24 ,2026 Position Summary The successful candidate will provide individual addictions counselling, facilitate therapeutic groups, and develop individualized recovery plans that support long-term healing for Indigenous individuals and families. Key Responsibilities Individual Counselling * Provide one-on-one addictions counselling using trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches. * Complete comprehensive assessments and identify client treatment goals. * Develop individualized Treatment Plans and regularly review client progress. * Create and update Relapse Prevention Plans to support sustained recovery. * Develop Aftercare Support Plans to ensure clients have appropriate community supports and resources following discharge. Group Facilitation * Facilitate engaging psychoeducational and therapeutic groups related to: * Addiction recovery * Relapse prevention * Emotional regulation/Self-Awareness * Healthy relationships/Boundaries * Coping skills * Recovery planning * Foster a safe, respectful, and culturally inclusive group environment. Case Management & Collaboration * Maintain an active caseload and monitor client progress. * Participate in case conferences and collaborate with Family Wellness Workers, Child & Youth Care Workers, Elders, psychologists, and external agencies. * Support referrals to community services and aftercare resources across Alberta Documentation * Complete accurate and timely documentation for all client services, including: * Intake assessments * Progress notes * Individualized Treatment Plans * Relapse Prevention Plans * Aftercare Support Plans and referrals * Discharge summaries * Maintain confidential client records in accordance with agency policies and professional standards. Qualifications * Diploma or Degree in Addictions Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field. * Registration with a recognized professional association is considered an asset. * Experience working with addictions, mental health, trauma, and Indigenous communities is preferred. * Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, CBT, harm reduction, and relapse prevention principles. Skills & Attributes * Strong counselling and group facilitation skills. * Excellent written documentation and organizational abilities. * Ability to build trusting therapeutic relationships. * Strong communication and collaboration skills. * Commitment to culturally safe, family-centred, trauma-informed care.
