Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Animal hospital. Veterinary clinic. Tasks: Prepare food and feed animals. Clean and disinfect cages, pens, aquariums, kennels, runs, stall and enclosures. Keep records of animals treated. Assist with inoculation and treatment of animals. Maintain and order supplies. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Veterinary assistant course. Animal specialization: Domestic animals/pets (cats, kittens, puppies, dogs, etc.). Security and safety: Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Fast-paced environment. Standing for extended periods. Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs).
