*Main Purpose of the Job: * The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and success of the hotel. This role ensures smooth day-to-day operations across all departments?front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and guest services?while upholding company standards and delivering an exceptional guest experience. The General Manager oversees staff performance, financial controls, property upkeep, guest satisfaction, and compliance with brand and company policies. They also play a critical role in employee development, community relations, and ensuring the long-term growth and profitability of the property. *Reports to: * Ownership and Management Personnel. *Direct Reports: * Guest Services Manager, Head Housekeeper, Maintenance Worker, Housekeeping & Laundry Staff, Guest Services Representatives. *Duties and Responsibilities:* * Oversee all hotel operations to ensure efficiency, guest satisfaction, and alignment with brand standards. * Lead, mentor, and manage department heads and staff, ensuring accountability and strong teamwork across all roles. * Ensure the property remains clean, safe, and welcoming, including guest rooms, public spaces, and exterior areas. * Monitor financial performance including revenues, expenses, deposits, direct billing accounts, and cash handling procedures. * Review and approve night audits, reconciliations, and ensure compliance with financial controls. * Develop, implement, and enforce hotel policies, standard operating procedures, and emergency protocols. * Recruit, onboard, and train employees across all departments; foster a positive workplace culture that promotes retention and staff growth. * Manage scheduling and staffing levels to balance guest service needs with cost efficiency. * Step into operational roles as needed, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, or other positions, to ensure seamless hotel operations. * Address and resolve guest complaints or escalated service concerns with professionalism and urgency. * Liaise with ownership and management company regarding performance updates, staffing needs, and capital improvements. * Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, employment standards, and brand requirements. * Lead community engagement initiatives and represent the hotel in building positive local relationships. * Support procurement of FF&E and OS&E as needed for hotel operations. * Conduct regular inspections of rooms, common areas, and building systems to maintain operational readiness. * Promote and implement guest satisfaction initiatives, loyalty programs, and upsell opportunities. * Contribute to strategic planning and identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost savings, and service improvement. * Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the hotel?s success. *Qualifications:* * High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in hospitality, business, or management strongly preferred. * Minimum 3?5 years of progressive hotel experience, including supervisory or management-level roles. * Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing multi-department teams. * Strong financial acumen and experience with budgets, forecasting, and cost controls. * Proficiency in hotel property management systems (e.g., HotelKey, Opera, Maestro) and POS terminals. * Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and organizational skills. * Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs. * Strong communication skills and ability to foster positive relationships with staff, guests, and community stakeholders.
