About Us McLaren Equipment is an authorized John Deere dealer specializing in turf and compact construction equipment, including 1?5 Series John Deere tractors. We support homeowners, landscape professionals, contractors, and municipalities with the equipment they depend on ? and the service department is the backbone of that promise. We're looking for a Shop Manager who can lead a service team, keep work moving, and turn our shop into a profit center our customers trust. Position Summary The Shop Manager leads the day-to-day operations of the service department. You'll coach and develop technicians, schedule and assign work, quote and sell service, manage work order flow and accuracy, and own the department's annual goals and budget. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands equipment, people, and the numbers behind a well-run shop. Responsibilities & Duties * Coach, evaluate, and develop the service team ? identify training opportunities and provide the team with paths for growth * Schedule and assign jobs and work areas to service department employees based on their skills and knowledge * Manage the daily operations of the department, recognizing employee, customer, and management needs and making decisions accordingly * Provide customer quotes based on flat rate billing * Upsell additional services as appropriate * Create annual service department goals and budget in alignment with the organization's financial and operational objectives * Drive toward those goals by selling service to dormant customers, warranty-expiring customers, and regular customers with bulk service opportunities * Review work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to sending to operations for billing * Ensure open work orders are closed out and sent to operations in a timely manner, and evaluate open order reports to catch anything missed * Ensure service vehicles are maintained and that the tools and equipment technicians need are available and in good working order * Provide service operations with accurate information to finalize the back end ? machine hours, correct serial numbers, photos, parts storage, and any other requested documentation * Prepare the daily triage and end-of-day prep for the next morning's jobs Qualifications *Required* * 3+ years of experience in a service, shop, or equipment repair environment, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role * Working knowledge of turf, compact construction, agricultural, or similar off-road equipment systems (engines, hydraulics, electrical, drivetrain) * Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and reassign work as the day changes * Comfortable with service management software, work orders, and basic reporting * Customer-facing communication skills ? able to explain repairs and quotes clearly and sell service without pressure * Valid driver's license and clean driving record * High school diploma or equivalent *Preferred* * Experience at a John Deere or comparable OEM dealership or Automotive Dealership * Familiarity with flat rate billing, warranty claim processes, and service department budgeting * Experience building a service department's goals, budget, or growth plan What We Offer * Competitive salary based on experience * Health, dental, and vision insurance * Paid time off and holidays * Factory and OEM training opportunities * A stable, growing dealership where your decisions actually shape the department Schedule * Monday to Friday - 8:00am- 4:30pm Pay: $25.00-$32.00 per hour Benefits: * Extended health care * Life insurance * On-site parking * Paid time off * RRSP match * Vision care Work Location: In person Location Bracebridge , ON Work location On site Salary $ 25.00 to $ 32.00 HOUR hourly Terms of employment Full time Starts as soon as possible vacancies 1 vacancy Source indeed.com #10232416944 Various locations Bracebridge, ON
