Job Type: Part-time Expected Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week Pay: $40-$50 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience Start Date: August 2026 About the Position Ficus Education Inc. is seeking a part-time Ontario high school mathematics teacher. This is an existing vacancy. The successful candidate will initially teach online during August 2026. Beginning in September 2026, the position will transition to in-person work at our North York school. The primary courses are MHF4U (Advanced Functions) and MCV4U (Calculus and Vectors). The student has already completed part of MHF4U, so the teacher will first communicate with the student and review their progress to determine where instruction should resume. The position is expected to involve approximately 10 hours per week. Hours may include teaching, lesson preparation, assessment, grading, student support, academic record keeping, and other related school duties. Schedule - Availability on Monday and/or Thursday evenings between 9:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Toronto time is preferred. - Other working hours will be arranged according to course and school needs. - Online work during August 2026. - In-person work in North York beginning in September 2026. Responsibilities - Teach MHF4U and MCV4U according to the Ontario curriculum. - Assess the student's current progress and plan appropriate next steps. - Prepare course outlines, unit plans, lesson plans, handouts, assignments, and assessments. - Administer and evaluate student work and provide timely feedback. - Maintain accurate student grades, progress records, and required school documentation. - Support the school with curriculum, assessment, and other teaching-related administrative duties. - Follow Growing Success, Ontario Schools, the Private Schools Policy and Procedures Manual, and other applicable Ministry of Education requirements. - Assist with preparation for Ontario Ministry of Education inspections when required. - Collaborate with school administration and other teachers. Qualifications - Strong knowledge of senior Ontario secondary school mathematics, especially MHF4U and MCV4U. - A bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Mathematics, or a related field. - Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification is preferred. - Experience with Ontario private school inspections is a strong asset. - Familiarity with Ontario curriculum, assessment, evaluation, and reporting requirements. - Strong communication, organization, and student-support skills. - Experience teaching international students is an asset. - Ability to teach online in August and work in person in North York from September. - Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Compensation $40-$50 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Compensation will be reviewed after six months based on performance and responsibilities.
