Established in 1973, Birnam Excavating Ltd. is a privately owned, family run company engaged in the sewer, watermain, roadbuilding and general contracting industry. Our work involves upgrading key infrastructure under the ground in addition to providing quality surface works, as well as mechanical systems, process works, water and wastewater and general infrastructure projects. We are currently seeking a *Pipelayer* The successful applicant will contribute to the ongoing site safety, contribute feedback on how to improve quality, service, productivity, and efficiency at Birnam, work directly with the Pipelayer Helper/Topman and Foreman. Their responsibilities will include but not be limited too: -Move and manipulate pipe, ensuring fit and inspecting for defects -Install fittings, join pipe, and ensure an effective seal on all connections -Operate and maintain tools/equipment -Shoveling and packing of soil and granular materials to ensure proper compaction -Ensure quality of work -Work safely around utilities -Be a good team player -Other general labourer tasks as required Please note, this is a Unionized position with LIUNA 1059.
