We are currently accepting applications for a Casual Therapeutic Assistant to join our Halifax team!Summary:Reporting to the Recreation Therapist (Allied Health Lead), the Therapeutic Assistant will work cooperatively and collaboratively with the inter-professional team to carry out the individual's intervention plan. The therapeutic assistant provides support to the resident and inter-professional team members using therapeutic interventions, facilitation techniques, and participation in leisure/recreation programming in a 1:1 or group setting.Qualifications:Diploma from an accredited post-secondary educational institution:2 year Therapeutic Recreation DiplomaAssets:Dementia: Understanding the Journey CourseGentle Persuasion Approach ProgramCurrent Non Violent Crisis Intervention CertificationSuicide Prevention Certification.Understands the principles of person and family center care as it relates to a continuing care population.Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral intervention techniques.Understands the concepts of working within a care team as an approach to providing resident care.Strong leadership and interpersonal skillsUnderstanding and knowledge of ABI, stroke, dementia, and mental health as well as persons living in LTCDemonstrated ability to engage residents in therapeutic interventions.Responsibilities: Assists in the implementation of the individual intervention plans as directed by the Recreation TherapistContributes via feedback to the Recreation Therapist in the evaluation of intervention plan's effectiveness.Documents daily interactions and tasks on the health care record accoding to the requiremens of the Intervention PlanPerform other related dutiesContributes to a positive working environment and staff moraleSalary / Benefits: As per the Northwood scale.Hours of Work: No guarantee of hours (8 - 12 Hour Shifts) - Days/EveningsEffective Date: ImmediatelyIf you are interested in applying for this career opportunity please click APPLY!Applications: Internal applications must be submitted online through the Northwood Hub.
