Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Cold/refrigerated. Confined spaces. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Odours. Tasks: Perform security checks within plant and on grounds. Analyze test results and instrument readings. Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content. Collect waste and sewage samples. Complete and maintain plant logs and reports. Help with the installation, the assembly, and repairs to equipment. Maintain chemical feed stocks. Make adjustments to plant equipment and systems. Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally. Monitor and read recording instruments to detect equipment malfunctions and ensure plant systems and equipment are operating within prescribed limits. Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the treatment and distribution of water. Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the flow of sewage and to treat and dispose of sewage and wastes. Patrol plant to check pumps, motors, filters, chlorinators and other plant equipment. Read recording instruments to measure output and consumption levels, bacterial content, chlorine and fluoride levels. Transport and mix chemicals, and operate equipment used to unload chemicals. Administer first-aid and other assistance. Inspect products and processing methods; prepare reports and ensure that regulations governing health, quality and safety are followed. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Water wastewater operator Certification. Confined Space Entry Training. Water Distribution Certificate (Levels I, II, III or IV). Water Treatment Certificate (Levels I, II, III or IV). Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Specialization or experience: Specialized environmental skills and knowledge. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is not available. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Hand-eye co-ordination. Handling heavy loads. Manual dexterity. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Excellent written communication. Flexibility. Judgement. Organized. Reliability. Team player.
