We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to manage our men's shelter- St.John House. The Fredericton Homeless Shelters, Inc. is a community organization that works to help individuals experiencing homelessness. Our shelters work to create a safe and stable housing that promotes self-determination and restores dignity to its residents. With our Continuum of Care model, our 360 support and holistic transitional planning support we are a housing focused shelter space. We are THE agency that changes people?s lives. We believe every person is entitled to a safe place to call home. For those who have no home; we are their home and we are proud of that. St.John House provides home to 27 men . St. House provides a comforting, supportive, safe environment that fosters and produces dignity and self-determination. The residents of St.John House have access to support from staff 23 hours per day, as well as laundry and shower facilities, a resource library equipped with computers, Wi-Fi and phones, and a donation pool. The staff who operate St.John House come from all different backgrounds and different experiences, but each of them understand the specific challenges that individual faces. All of our shelters, operate under the trust that our shelter is not simply four walls and a heating system. For our residents, we are their home and a safe place to sort out their challenges during a vulnerable period in their lives. JOB DESCRIPTION Main Functions: Provides leadership to Resident Support Workers through example and guidance; Manages the day to day Shelter activities and supports the Transition Planner, Director of Operations and Executive Director in their roles. Reports to: Director of Operations & Executive Director Duties: Leadership: · Creates an environment for the success of staff and residents · Works collaboratively with and supports all FHSI staff, volunteers, other appropriate service providers/agencies and residents · Facilitates/attends Shelter meetings and intra agency meetings as needed, creating and maintaining open, effective lines of communication · Takes part in the selection and interview process of new staff · Provides guidance, training and regular direct supervision of staff · Schedules staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels at all times, and with consideration for time off and training · Ensures adherence to FHSI Mission and Mandate, Policy & Protocols, Manuals and Handbooks and liaises with Director of Operations with regards to any required revisions · Ensures appropriate reporting via Shift Logs, Medication Logs, Resident Files, HIFIS, etc. · Submits accurate, bi-weekly payroll/schedules information and various monthly reports, i.e. Manager Reports, Service Fee Reports, etc., to Director of Operations · Collects. Manages and submits resident service fees and monetary donations to the Director of Operations Training & Development: · Responsible for effective staff orientation and training, both individual and team, identifying areas for development as they arise · Liaises with HR Specialist to ensure all staff evaluations are up to date and ensures staff receive recognition for excellence and achievements to foster on-going growth and development Resident Focus: · Creates an environment of support for Residents, enabling Residents to stabilise on entering the Shelters Community Liaison: · Responds to community enquiries and represents FHSI in the community, accepting donations, and attends various community events and other FHSI activities to support staff and residents where appropriate and as able. · Liaises and maintains a relationship with other Service Providers to update and promote FHSI services Working Conditions: · Flexibility regarding shift schedule and work hours is required, with occasional work outside of regularly scheduled hours as needed · Meal and lunch breaks must be taken on location, unless staff coverage is available and/or shelter is closed · Abili Location Fredericton , NB Work location On site Salary $ 23.00 HOUR hourly Terms of employment Full time Starts as soon as possible vacancies 1 vacancy Source indeed.com #10226436179 Various locations Fredericton, NB
