We are seeking an experienced *Marine Chargehand (Welder/Fitter)* to join our team. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supervising and executing marine repair projects while performing welding, fitting, mechanical repairs, and maintenance activities. The successful candidate will oversee repair crews, manage engine room inventory and maintenance programs, coordinate materials and resources, communicate with clients and project managers, and support project planning, scheduling, contract administration, and successful project delivery. *Responsibilities* * Supervise and coordinate ship repair activities and field operations. * Perform hands-on welding, fitting, mechanical repairs, and troubleshooting. * Manage engine room inventory, tools, materials, and maintenance records. * Execute and oversee structural, piping, and equipment repairs. * Coordinate manpower, schedules, materials, and work priorities. * Review drawings, specifications, and repair requirements. * Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards. * Communicate with clients, vessel representatives, subcontractors, and internal project teams. * Assist with estimating, planning, and execution of repair scopes. * Mentor and support junior tradespeople and apprentices. *Qualifications & Experience* * Extensive experience in marine ship repair, shipyard operations, industrial fabrication, or heavy mechanical environments. * Previous experience as a Chargehand, Lead Hand, Supervisor, Foreman, or similar leadership role. * Strong welding experience with MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), Flux-Core (FCAW), stainless steel, aluminum, and pipe welding. * Experience with mechanical repairs, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting. * Experience with GRE pipe repairs is required. * Ability to interpret technical drawings, welding procedures, and repair specifications. * Strong knowledge of marine systems, engine room equipment, and maintenance practices. * Experience coordinating crews, materials, and project activities. * Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. * Ability to work independently in shipyard, onboard vessel, and industrial environments. *Required Qualifications* * Valid U.S. B1/B2 Visa. * Valid driver's licence. * Ability to travel as required for projects. * Ability to work safely in marine and industrial environments. *Preferred Certifications* * Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Certification. * Red Seal Welder. * Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic. * ASME Welding Qualifications. * Other recognized marine, welding, or mechanical certifications Pay: $40.00-$55.00 per hour Benefits: * Dental care * Extended health care Work Location: In person Location Port Coquitlam , BC Work location On site Salary $ 40.00 to $ 55.00 HOUR hourly Terms of employment Full time Starts as soon as possible vacancies 1 vacancy Source indeed.com #10226619270 Various locations Port Coquitlam, BC
