Role & responsibilities This individual contributor is responsible for the design, configuration, build, implementation, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. In additional, they are responsible for ensuring adherence to IT policies and standards including security practices. This is a hands-on position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This position serves as the face of the team to business customers and stakeholders across the organization. This position requires the individual to be able to handle large databases with high degree of complexity and non-uniformity at an enterprise corporate level. Preferred candidate profile *ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE OK WITH NIGHT SHIFTS* 4 Years of experience with MS SQL Server database (SQL Server versions 2012 through current), SQL Server High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions such as Always On, Distributed Availability Group, Clustering, Log shipping and Replication, etc. 2 Years of experience with database performance tuning and troubleshooting Experience with Database utilities such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS) & SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) Experience in supporting complex Development/projects Experience in storage engineering and/or data backup engineering, including experience with data replication. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one.
