The opportunity We are expanding and looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join our growing global team. How you’ll make an impact Perform the technical design and calculations of climate systems for HVDC converter stations, including reviewing designs, drawings, documentation, and technical specifications. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure effective integration of climate systems within overall HVDC plant designs. Support all project phases—from tendering and conceptual design to detailed engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning—ensuring quality and timely execution. Conduct design reviews to ensure compliance with customer requirements, ASHRAE standards, and internal guidelines. Assist with testing, verification, and performance validation during commissioning, including site inspections and on-site support. Translate customer needs into reliable and compliant climate system solutions. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and mentor junior engineers to support technical development within the team. Your background Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field with a focus on heat transfer and fluid mechanics. Proven expertise in climate systems or HVAC equipment such as chillers, dehumidifiers, air handling units, and integrated monitoring and control sensors. Solid understanding of psychrometric charts, heat transfer (active/passive), flow diagrams, and control systems. Experience working on large-scale engineering projects is an advantage. You should ideally like working in a multicultural environment and be able to express yourself written and spoken in English. Swedish is considered an advantage. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
