Renovation Assistant / General Operative

Niall Mac Allister Limited is seeking a reliable and practical Renovation Assistant/General Operative to help with the restoration of a historic Georgian house in Adrigole, Beara, West Cork. The successful applicant will work alongside the property owner and experienced tradespeople. Duties will include removing old flooring, moving soil and rubble, loading and unloading materials, preparing work areas, mixing lime-based building materials, assisting with floor and wall preparation, painting, cleaning the site and other general renovation work as required. This is a physically demanding position involving manual work in an unfinished building. Previous experience in construction, renovation, landscaping, farming or the safe use of hand and power tools would be an advantage. However, training can be provided to a dependable applicant with a good attitude and willingness to learn. Applicants should be physically fit, punctual, safety-conscious and able to follow instructions. A driving licence would be helpful due to the rural location but is not essential. This is a fixed-term position for a minimum of three months, with the possibility of an extension. Normal working hours will be approximately 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Pay will be at the appropriate statutory hourly rate and will reflect the applicant’s relevant skills and experience. Free accommodation and food can be provided in a shared family home overlooking Adrigole Harbour. The household includes two friendly dogs, so applicants must be comfortable around animals. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in Ireland.
