Are you looking for a role where you're critical to every part of the business? Do you want to help ensure that our teams deliver software so that our analysts can deliver service to our customers? How about being a crucial part of making sure our internal teams operate efficiently? You're not afraid of new technology. In fact, you love diving in and figuring out how it works. Whether it's a successful launch or a few bumps in the road, you're always up for a challenge. Balancing multiple projects at once is no easy feat, but when everything clicks into place, there's nothing quite like that sense of satisfaction. The best part of the job? Seeing someone use a capability you've built and hearing them exclaim, "Wow, I can't believe how easy that was." You care about the success of your colleagues and take pride in helping them achieve it. As a cloud-based IT organization, we're breaking the traditional mold and thinking creatively about how we can make the day-to-day life of our employees simple. We're always looking for innovative solutions, and we need someone with the wit and determination to help us achieve our goals. In this role, you'll keep Expel's IT infrastructure and services secure and highly available, from our cloud platforms all the way down to the equipment in our conference rooms. You'll manage access across the employee lifecycle, own large cross-functional projects from beginning to end, and take manual work out of how we operate before anyone feels the friction. It's based onsite at our Herndon, Virginia headquarters, so you'll also be the person who makes sure the technology people walk up and touch works exactly like it should. If you're up for the challenge, we want to hear from you! What Expel Can Do For You Provide the autonomy to define problems and propose solutions. Deliver never-ending opportunities to tackle business problems. Give you real ownership of large cross-functional projects, end to end. Surround you with a team of problem solvers. Ensure you get support, mentoring, and feedback to make you successful. What You Can Do For Expel Manage and maintain IT systems in a cloud first environment. Provide friendly and unflappable technical support. Make sure new hires have the accounts, access, and hardware they need on day one, and that access goes away promptly when people leave. Be the point of contact for the systems and services you own. Own large cross-functional projects from beginning to end. Collaborate with multi-functional teams to identify integration issues, solve errors, and optimize performance. Proactively find opportunities for improvement and build automations that streamline operations and reduce manual work. Apply AI tooling, like Claude and Gemini, to accelerate day-to-day work. Manage IT-owned technology at Expel's HQ, including network equipment, conference room and AV equipment, kiosk computers, and other shared-space systems. Keep people in the loop on service disruptions and changes. Work alongside our security team to protect our information. Contribute to the team's roadmap and work in two week sprints against quarterly and yearly goals. Build and routinely update documentation on automations, configurations, and operating procedures. What You Should Bring With You Proficiency managing core enterprise SaaS products such as Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft 365. Experience automating tasks and integrating systems using platforms like Workato, Okta Workflows, or Microsoft Power Automate. Experience with AI platforms like Anthropic Claude and Google Gemini, including prompt engineering and connecting systems through emerging standards like the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Knowledge of concepts like SAML, OIDC, SCIM, REST APIs, webhooks, JWT, and OAuth 2.0. Knowledge of programming and scripting languages like Python, Bash, PowerShell, and Ruby. macOS and Windows operating system administration skills, including experience with MDMs like Jamf and Intune. Familiarity with conference room AV and shared-space technology, like Zoom Rooms and Neat devices. Knowledge of Cisco Meraki and basic networking concepts like VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and wireless networking. Strong project management skills, especially on large cross-functional projects. Capacity to balance a mix of urgent, interrupt-driven tasks and project-level work. Excellent customer service and communication skills, written and verbal, with a habit of treating colleagues like customers. Adept at translating technical concepts and communicating to non-technical audiences. Outstanding problem solving abilities, with a desire to get to the root of sophisticated issues. Well-versed in IT operations best practices. 5+ years of professional experience with IT, 2+ of which were in an engineering or sysadmin capacity. A college degree or credible panache. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
