WHAT YOU WILL DO: Consulting engineer supporting a lab in the 4G/5G domain is expected to have a combination of technical expertise, operational skills, and customer engagement capabilities tailored to the complexities of 4G and 5G network technologies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Providing Network Optimization Services Provide software support to for incremental changes to the architecture, network and applicable devices. Lab Validation and Consulting Support Escalation and Non-Scheduled Change Management Support Provide or help expedite restoration of service by offering knowledge of the network Design Collaboration - Provide the following services under this Service A. Consult with Customer networking staff in a series of meetings to develop a thorough understanding of Customer Network design requirements, with a focus on concerns such as resiliency, self-recovery, scalability, and ability to handled increased traffic demands Provide current and incremental Network design and architecture consultation. Provide ongoing information on design related to security alerts that may impact key Network Products. v. Implementation Plan Review - Evaluate the potential impact of the proposed scheduled change, review implementation procedures, and be available to assist to resolve problems with Network Hardware and configuration during a major deployment into a live Network Knowledge Transfer Sessions – Conduct/participate in knowledge transfer sessions in collaboration with management, to provide informal training about their deployed infrastructure, tailored to their needs and infrastructure. Schedule Change Support – Schedule and provide change support activity which minimizes the potential for error during scheduled changes prior to executing the change in the network. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Software Support - Support for incremental changes to the architecture, network and applicable devices Lab Validation and Consulting Support Escalation and Non-Scheduled Change Management Support Design Collaboration Implementation Plan Review DESIRABLE CRITERIA: Deep understanding of 4G and 5G technologies: Knowledge of 3GPP/3GPP2 standards, including 5G SA/NSA architectures, Service-Based Architecture (SBA), Service Mesh, network functions (AMF, SMF, UPF, PCF), network slicing, VPP, Data modeling technique like fragmentation, p2p and content filtering. Network function virtualization and cloud-native technologies: Ability to work with NFVI, virtualization, and cloud-native deployments, working experience of Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift and microservices. Networking knowledge: Strong in layer 2/3 networking, strong knowledge of BGP, BFD, IS-IS, OSPF and static routes. Test automation and release management: Skill in automated testing, python3, unix, shell scripting. System Engineering: Scaling testing, System Engineering, Performance and Call model The EOS pay range for this job is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully.
