CIVIL ENGINEER, LAND DEVELOPMENT (STARSHIP INFRASTRUCTURE) As a member of the Starship Launch Engineering team you will work with a group of elite engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure that will enable orbital launch capability for the largest rocket in the world. This position is based at Cape Canaveral, FL. RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type land development projects Perform all calculations necessary for grading and drainage, stormwater control facilities, water quality, domestic water distribution, and other underground utilities Drive coordination and design necessary to obtain local, state, and federal permits as it relates to land development and utility construction projects Manage the civil aspects of construction projects in the field; including quality control, conflict resolution, and coordination of a multi-discipline contractor team Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners, and internal clients to develop project requirements, schedule, and cost estimates prior to project implementation Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or other engineering discipline 1+ years of professional experience in civil engineering design, analysis, and/or drafting PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency in technical skills in storm water management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading and other site development related designs Understanding of other disciplines such as electrical, piping, geotechnical, electrical and surveying EIT or Professional Engineering (PE) license Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while maintaining a high sense of urgency in a high-paced, challenging work environment Experience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying light weight such as materials or equipment (ability to lift up to 35 lbs. unassisted) Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain Perform work occasionally in an environment with exposure to fumes, odors, and noise using appropriate personal protective equipment Must be available to work extended hours on occasion ITAR REQUIREMENTS: To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
