Introduction: We are seeking a senior software engineer who has built real agentic systems, thinks deeply about how to evaluate agents and understands how to deliver reliable AI products. In this role, you’ll work within our AI Engineering team and contribute to the platform that helps traders, researchers and engineers build trusted AI applications. You’ll have opportunities to work across the full lifecycle from model inference, evaluation, deployment and observability of agents solving real business outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Architect, develop and operate our internal AI Engineering platform Design and implement evaluations for agents across a range of tasks, developing robust ways to measure quality, reliability, and business impact Work closely with internal partner teams building their own applications and workflows with AI Understand the model provider landscape and the strengths/weaknesses of different model families Collaborate within the global AI Engineering team to share perspectives from your local customers Produce high-quality, unit-tested code and uphold consistent style and documentation through code reviews and CI/CD practices Troubleshoot and debug AI systems to ensure optimal performance Qualifications: Bachelorʼs degree in Computer Science, AI, or related field Minimum of 4 years of professional software or ML engineering experience Strong problem-solving skills: ability to make progress on ambiguous problems, make pragmatic engineering decisions Solid software engineering fundamentals and a track record of building maintainable production systems Excellent knowledge of Python, common AI/ML libraries and integration with 3rd party services Some commercial or open source experience in developing AI agents with any of the well-known services Experience with LLM inference engines (sglang/vLLM/etc) a plus but not required Experience with model fine-tuning a plus but not required DIVERSITY STATEMENT Optiver is committed to diversity and inclusion . That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
