ABOUT THE ROLE Accela is seeking a strategic, data-driven, and results-oriented Vice President of Marketing to lead the company's global marketing organization and accelerate growth. Reporting to the executive leadership team, the VP of Marketing is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy that drives brand awareness, demand generation, pipeline creation, customer engagement, and revenue growth. This leader will oversee all aspects of marketing, including Demand Generation, Business Development Representatives (BDRs), Product Marketing, Brand & Creative, Corporate Communications, Content Marketing, Events & Trade Shows, Customer Marketing, Public Relations, and Marketing Operations. The VP will partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, Product Management, Revenue Operations, Partner Channel, and Executive Leadership to create a unified go-to-market strategy that expands market presence, increases customer acquisition, and drives measurable business outcomes. The ideal candidate is a seasoned GovTech SaaS marketing executive with experience leading the full marketing function for a growth-stage or enterprise software company. They have successfully built and scaled teams across demand generation, product marketing, communications, events, customer marketing, and operations; managed significant marketing budgets; developed annual and multi-year marketing strategies; and delivered measurable pipeline, revenue, and market awareness outcomes. The successful candidate will have a proven history of leading leaders, influencing executive and board-level discussions, and aligning marketing investments to company growth objectives. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Marketing Strategy & Revenue Growth Develop and execute a comprehensive 1-3 year marketing strategy aligned with company growth objectives and revenue targets. Own marketing's contribution to pipeline generation, customer acquisition, and revenue growth. Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) across the marketing funnel, including lead generation, conversion rates, pipeline contribution, customer acquisition cost, and ROI. Partner closely with executive leadership to define and execute go-to-market strategies that support strategic business priorities. Demand Generation & Revenue Marketing Lead thedemand generation function, driving awareness, engagement, lead generation, and pipeline creation. Develop integrated multi-channel campaigns across digital marketing, email marketing, content marketing, account-based marketing (ABM), partner marketing, social media, webinars, and field marketing. Optimize conversion rates throughout the buyer journey and sales funnel. Utilize analytics and attribution models to improve campaign effectiveness and marketing ROI. Business Development Representative (BDR) Leadership Lead and manage the BDR organization as a critical component of the marketing function. Develop scalable inbound and outbound prospecting strategies that generate qualified sales opportunities. Establish goals, performance metrics, and accountability measures for lead generation, qualification, and pipeline contribution. Coach and develop managers and BDR team members to improve productivity, effectiveness, and career growth. Ensure strong alignment and collaboration between BDRs, Sales, and Marketing teams to maximize conversions and pipeline velocity. Brand, Creative & Corporate Communications Define and evolve the company's brand strategy, positioning, and messaging. Ensure consistency and quality across all customer-facing marketing materials and communications. Oversee the creative function, including visual design, digital assets, web presence, advertising, and brand standards. Lead public relations, analyst relations, social media, and executive communications efforts to strengthen market visibility and thought leadership. Product Marketing & Messaging Partner with Product Management to develop differentiated positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies. Drive product launches and market introductions that effectively communicate customer value and business impact. Lead market research, competitive intelligence, customer insights, and buyer persona development. Enable go-to-market teams with effective sales tools, content, and messaging. Content Marketing Develop and oversee a comprehensive content strategy that supports brand awareness, demand generation, customer engagement, and thought leadership. Ensure the creation of compelling content, including blogs, white papers, eBooks, webinars, videos, customer stories, and sales enablement assets. Align content strategy with target audiences, buyer journeys, and business objectives. Events, Trade Shows & Field Marketing Own strategy, planning, execution, and performance measurement of all events, conferences, trade shows, webinars, and customer-facing marketing programs. Ensure event investments generate measurable pipeline, revenue, and customer engagement outcomes. Establish event KPIs and ROI measurement frameworks to evaluate performance and optimize investments. Partner with Sales and Customer Success to maximize event-driven pipeline and customer engagement opportunities. Marketing Operations & Technology Lead marketing operations, analytics, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and technology strategy. Oversee the evaluation, implementation, and optimization of marketing technology platforms, including CRM, automation, analytics, and attribution tools. Ensure accurate funnel reporting and visibility into marketing performance and revenue impact. Drive operational excellence and scalable processes across the marketing organization. Team Leadership & Organizational Development Build, lead, and develop a high-performing marketing organization. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Manage and mentor leaders across multiple marketing disciplines. Scale team structure and capabilities to support company growth and evolving business needs. Lead a broad organization including employees, contractors, agencies, and strategic partners. Budget Management Own the marketing budget and resource allocation strategy. Ensure investments are aligned to company priorities and deliver measurable return on investment. Partner with Finance and Sales Operations to forecast, track, and optimize marketing spend. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field; MBA preferred. 10+ years of progressive B2B SaaS marketing leadership experience, including senior leadership roles. Proven experience leading demand generation and revenue marketing organizations that consistently deliver pipeline and revenue growth. Demonstrated success leading Business Development Representative (BDR/SDR) teams and aligning sales and marketing efforts. Strong understanding of SaaS business models, go-to-market motions, customer acquisition strategies, and subscription-based revenue models. Proven ability to build and scale high-performing marketing organizations. Expertise in digital marketing, account-based marketing (ABM), content strategy, event marketing, product marketing, and brand management. Strong analytical skills with experience using data, attribution models, and performance metrics to drive decision-making. Experience managing public relations, analyst relations, and executive communications. Deep knowledge of marketing technologies including CRM platforms, marketing automation tools, analytics, and reporting solutions. Exceptional communication, presentation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, and results-oriented environment. Limited travel required. COMPENSATION AND WELL-BEING The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $225,000 - $260,000 (less applicable taxes). The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience. In addition to an annual base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus target. This is a discretionary bonus awarded based on company and individual goal achievement.
