About the opportunity We are looking for an experienced and empathetic Engineering Manager to lead and grow 3 teams within our Cards and Digital Wallets segment. You will manage around 15 backend engineers, helping them deliver critical, customer-facing features from start to finish. We need someone who knows how to build high-performing teams, tracks the right engineering metrics, and works closely with Product and UX to turn goals into reality. What you will do: Manage and Grow the Team: Support a group of ~15 backend engineers through regular 1:1s, clear feedback, and guidance on their career growth. Drive Delivery: Lead 3 teams to deliver impactful, end-to-end projects smoothly and on time. Use Metrics Wisely: Track engineering metrics and KPIs to spot bottlenecks, improve processes, and help the teams perform at their best. Partner with Product & UX: Work side-by-side with Product Managers and designers to plan projects, manage dependencies, and remove blockers. Keep High Standards: Bring a strong technical background to help the team maintain high code quality and build scalable systems. What you need to bring: Solid experience managing and mentoring software engineers (handling a team of around 15 direct reports). A strong track record of delivering complex, end-to-end projects in fast-paced agile environments. Good knowledge of engineering metrics and how to use them to improve team performance. A strong agile mindset, with the ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and frequent shifts in direction. Exceptional collaboration skills, working hand-in-hand with Product Managers, UX, and peers. High proactiveness, looking beyond your own segment to create a broader impact across the company. A technical background that lets you earn the respect of strong engineers and support their technical decisions. Fluent English. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
