This is Adyen Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition. For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster. Senior Software Engineer - Java Application Core Components (JACC) Adyen provides a global, unified platform built by Java application teams across the company. The Java Application Core Components (JACC) team plays a key role in this: we build and maintain the shared frameworks and components that define how other Adyen teams design, structure, and deploy their Java applications. As part of JACC, you will build and maintain the core Java tools and components used across all of Adyen, shaping how other engineering teams build their services. You'll work on some of the largest ongoing efforts in the company, including 3 large-scale migrations that will shape the future of Adyen's application architecture. You'll join a lean team of 6 Java experts, working in a Kanban-like way with minimal process overhead, and gain real influence over the architecture of one of the leading players in the payments space. What you will do Design, build, and evolve the internal and open source Java frameworks and components used by every Java application team at Adyen. Play an active role in one or more of the team's 3 large-scale migrations that are reshaping Adyen's application architecture. Provide hands-on technical guidance to other engineering teams, by guiding them on how the frameworks and libraries we provide can be used to solve Adyen's business problems. Design and evolve workflows used by other engineering teams across Adyen, working closely with them to identify pain points and improvement opportunities. Collaborate with partner platform teams (Kubernetes infrastructure, deployment, security) to make sure our components integrate well across Adyen's tech stack. Advocate for best practices across Adyen and define boundaries/guidance on how the frameworks/libraries we maintain can be used. This should be achieved by creating code validation rules, running workshops and giving presentations to other development teams. What you bring 5+ years of experience with Java backend development Strong skills in core Java and code/API design Track record of building high-quality software, with testing at all levels A communicative, proactive team player who takes ownership, is decisive under ambiguity, and can act as a technical influencer with a multiplier mindset Comfortable being a driver: able to build alignment with stakeholders and partners while pushing initiatives for our customers Nice to have Experience with Kubernetes/cloud migrations, legacy application modernization, security-related work or platform development experience Experience developing and maintaining libraries/frameworks used by many other developers (either open source or internal) Experience with build tools, ideally for Java (Gradle/Maven) Broader architecture sense across distributed systems Familiarity with Spring, Jersey, Feign, OpenAPI Understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD) Exposure to AI agent workflows and a DevOps mindset Developer advocacy experience: public speaking or training/facilitation skills Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion commitments Our unique approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. This diversity of backgrounds and cultures is essential in helping us maintain our momentum. Our business and technical challenges are unique, and we need as many different voices as possible to join us in solving them - voices like yours. No matter who you are or where you’re from, we welcome you to be your true self at Adyen. Studies show that women and members of underrepresented communities apply for jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. Does this sound like you? If so, Adyen encourages you to reconsider and apply. We look forward to your application! What’s next? Ensuring a smooth and enjoyable candidate experience is critical for us. We aim to get back to you regarding your application within 5 business days. Our interview process tends to take about 4 weeks to complete, but may fluctuate depending on the role. Here's how to pick the right one and stand out in your application.

144.883Jobs

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
