As a Software Engineer , you will build and own the backend services, infrastructure, and data systems that support Robinhood Wallet products. You will develop new features and system enhancements to deliver a highly secure and efficient trading experience for cryptocurrencies and tokenized stocks, including perpetual futures, to customers worldwide. In this role, you will design scalable architectures and maintain high-quality codebases. You will also collaborate with other engineering teams to guide key technical decisions and raise our team's engineering standards. This role is based in our New York, NY or Menlo Park, CA office(s), with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. What you’ll do Design, build, test, and deploy scalable backend services that power Robinhood Wallet. Develop product-facing features and platform enhancements that meet strict correctness and scalability standards. Identify and implement improvements to system performance, engineering productivity, and risk reduction. Collaborate closely with client teams, product managers, designers, and external vendors to deliver reliable technical solutions. What you bring 2+ years of experience in software development. Expertise in backend development using languages such as Go, Python, or Java, with deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures. Strong grasp of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals. Proven ability to simplify complex problems, make sound tradeoffs, and drive alignment across product, engineering, and design teams. Strong sense of personal accountability with a track record of delivering successful, end-to-end products and raising team-wide technical standards. Bonus points Experience working for a DeFi protocol, a crypto wallet company, or another blockchain-related company. Familiarity with technologies like EVM blockchains and smart contracts. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
