Job Title Locum Clinical / Counselling / Forensic Psychologist Banding Band 7 / 8a Equivalent Location North West England Working Hours Full-Time | 37.5 Hours per Week Salary Competitive Hourly Rate Locum Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist – North West England Pulse Mental Health is recruiting for a Locum Psychologist to join a specialist inpatient mental health service in North West England. This is an excellent opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist or Forensic Psychologist seeking a rewarding locum position within a supportive multidisciplinary team. Working with adults presenting with complex mental health needs, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality psychological care and supporting service users on their recovery journeys. The role offers a competitive hourly rate, flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to gain valuable experience within a well-established healthcare provider. Whether you are an experienced locum psychologist or considering your first contract role, Pulse can support you throughout the process. Responsibilities As a Locum Psychologist, you will: Conduct specialist psychological assessments and develop evidence-based formulations. Deliver individual and group psychological interventions tailored to service user needs. Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Contribute to risk assessments, care planning and review meetings. Support psychologically informed practice across the service. Provide consultation and guidance to colleagues where appropriate. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional standards. Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications and Experience Essential HCPC registration as a Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist. Doctoral-level qualification in Psychology (or recognised equivalent). Experience working with adults with complex mental health needs. Strong assessment, formulation and intervention skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Desirable Previous experience within inpatient mental health, rehabilitation or secure services. Experience facilitating therapeutic groups. Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches. Experience contributing to service development or staff consultation.
