Data Engineer (m/f/d) We're looking for a Data Engineer who has hands-on experience integrating databases and external APIs, understands AWS infrastructure, and is comfortable working with tools like DBT to model and transform data. You'll help build and scale our data platform from ingestion through to the warehouse layer, powering AI Agents, BI, and business decisions across the organization. You will: Build and maintain data pipelines from ingestion through to storage Take end-to-end ownership of pipeline components Model data using data lake and warehouse concepts, and contribute to performance improvements (partitioning, file formats, tuning) Apply data governance and security practices in your work (least-privilege IAM, encryption, PII handling) Support the team with data quality, coding consistency and data availability Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into working data solutions Identify, formulate, and propose improvements to your own and your team’s practices The Next Moonfarian: 2–4 years of hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines in production Strong Python and advanced SQL skills Basic Scala experience, or a willingness to pick it up If not, excellent domain of Java or C# Familiarity with DBT (models, tests, documentation) Solid working knowledge of AWS or another major cloud provider Experience with relational databases and data warehouses Confident in Git, CI/CD, and modern deployment practices Practical experience with Docker Solution-oriented, strong attention to detail, and open to feedback and mentorship Nice to have: Experience with Apache Spark or a similar distributed processing framework Working knowledge of K8 Bash scripting Flyway or similar SQL migration tools If you feel you do not meet all of the requirements, we still encourage you to apply! That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
