Reports to: Engineering Manager Location: Remote US Compensation Range: $200,000 to $220,000 base plus bonus and equity What We Do: Cybercrime is growing, and more businesses are getting hit by threats that used to target only the biggest organizations. That pushes defenders like us to operate at the highest level, and it deepens our need for good people who want to make a meaningful impact. Founded in 2015 by former NSA cyber operators, Huntress is a remote-first team working to make enterprise-grade cybersecurity accessible to businesses of all sizes. We work closely with security teams and service providers protecting complex environments, often without the time or headcount to handle it all. That’s why we build our technology in-house and back it with a 24/7 human-led Security Operations Center (SOC). As a result, our platform is never disconnected from the experts who manage it, ensuring our customers' protection. Huntress now secures more than 5M endpoints and 11M identities worldwide. Those numbers keep growing because more businesses rely on us to help carry the load and operate with more confidence. Every day, you can see that commitment in how we stand with our customers and how we show up for each other. What You'll Do: The Huntress team is looking for an innovative and highly motivated Staff Software Engineer with excellent problem-solving and communication skills to join our Showcase team. Showcase is Huntress’s internal demo platform, used by sellers to provision live, guided product demo environments that reliably represent the Huntress platform and support the use cases we sell today. It sits close to the customer experience and revenue motion. Working on Showcase is a unique opportunity to work in Rails across the Huntress platform and help shape how customers discover value in our products. It is also a highly cross-functional role that interfaces closely with all Huntress’s cybersecurity products, especially the teams and systems responsible for producing the signals, detections, and incidents that power compelling product demonstrations. The team is responsible for Showcase stability and reliability, ensuring it works every time, the first time, while also improving observability, quality of service, and overall confidence in the platform. This role will help ensure Showcase can support the full range of use cases that Huntress sells today, while laying the groundwork for future feature expansion. In this role, you will focus on creating technical vision and implementing high-impact roadmap work across customer-facing Rails experiences, backend integrations, operational reliability, and product enablement. You will partner closely with Sales Engineers, Account Executives, Product, and Engineering to improve the quality of life for pre-sales and reseller use cases, reduce friction in how Showcase is used, and make it easier for all teams to rely on the platform with confidence. You will also help extend Showcase’s value beyond core feature delivery by supporting product team enablement, reseller support needs, and the internal tooling or workflows required to make Showcase a dependable part of how Huntress demonstrates and sells its platform. As a Staff Engineer, you’ll be expected to lead through influence, drive clarity through ambiguity, make sound tradeoffs, and raise the bar for engineering quality as the team grows. We make full use of AI coding tools to enable you to accelerate your development. We do not cap token usage; we expect our engineers to use AI and all tools responsibly. Responsibilities : Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end Showcase solutions, primarily using Ruby on Rails. Define and drive technical direction for Showcase initiatives, including user experiences, experimentation surfaces, and supporting platform capabilities. Build and improve instrumentation, analytics, and monitoring workflows that support product-led growth experiments and help the team understand usage patterns and experience quality. Partner closely with Product and peer engineering teams to translate roadmap goals into scalable, well-scoped technical work. Use data and sound engineering judgment to improve workflows, identify friction, and ensure users have a reliable, low-friction experience throughout Showcase. Be a technical thought leader for the team, providing architectural and design direction and helping shape long-term engineering strategy. Continuously improve solution quality through code reviews, testing, and strong engineering practices. Set standards for excellence and help develop processes that make the team continuously more effective. Lead greater efforts by breaking down ambiguous problems, validating designs, mentoring engineers, and serving as a technical point of contact for stakeholders. Collaborate across the stack when needed, moving between UI, backend systems, data models, and internal integrations to deliver cohesive solutions. What You Bring To The Team: 10+ years building and evolving complex software products, with demonstrated success operating at the staff-level scope. Deep expertise in building and scaling production Ruby on Rails systems (min 5yrs), with the ability to guide architectural direction and raise the bar for the team. Experience working with relational data models and production databases in Rails applications. Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, set technical direction, influence cross-functional decisions, and move a team forward through high-impact work. Experience building internal and stakeholder-facing product experiences and translating business or platform needs into scalable software solutions. Strong product and systems thinking, with an ability to connect user experience, experimentation, reliability, and implementation details. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, design, and go-to-market stakeholder groups. A strong coaching mindset, with a demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, grow team capability, and support development across both technical and career domains. Experience with AI coding tools and workflows, with the ability to help the team adopt them effectively, responsibly, and pragmatically. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in the CyberSecurity industry. Experience working with external APIs, particularly REST APIs and modern authentication and authorization flows. Experience designing or supporting analytics, experimentation, or product-led growth workflows. Experience with additional data storage or analysis technologies such as ClickHouse, Redis, ElasticSearch, or MongoDB. What We Offer: 100% remote work environment - since our founding in 2015 Generous paid time off policy, including vacation, sick time, and paid holidays 12 weeks of paid parental leave Highly competitive and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits plans 401(k) with a 5% contribution regardless of employee contribution Life and Disability insurance plans Stock options for all full-time employees One-time $500 reimbursement for building/upgrading home office Annual allowance for education and professional development assistance $75 USD/month digital reimbursement Access to the BetterUp platform for coaching, personal, and professional growth Huntress is committed to creating a culture of inclusivity where every single member of our team is valued, has a voice, and is empowered to come to work every day just as they are. 144,883 engineer jobs are open right now

Here's how to pick the right one and stand out in your application.

144.883Jobs

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
