Visual Concepts China (Shanghai) is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Server Engineer to join our studio for an unannounced project. Widely regarded as one of the world’s top video game studios, Visual Concepts, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (TTWO). Visual Concepts is best known for some of the world’s greatest sports videogames, including the world’s #1-rated and #1-selling basketball franchise, NBA 2K. What We Need: We are looking for a backend specialist, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure server-side applications and APIs. This role requires solid, hands-on experience in server API setup and configuration, along with a strong solid understanding of database storage solutions. Who Will Be A Great Fit: Experience: 8-10 years of professional experience in software development, with at least 5 years focused on high-scale backend server engineering Server API Mastery: Demonstrable expertise in designing, building, documenting, and consuming complex server APIs (REST/GraphQL). Must have experience with API gateways and service-to-service communication Proficiency in major backend languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++) Database Proficiency: Strong solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL Server) including query optimization, indexing, and schema design. Good understanding on in-memory database solutions as well as NoSQL databases for scaling across machine clusters Cloud Computing: Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Expert knowledge of various testing methodologies and requirements (unit, integration, BVT, stress and performance testing). Able to setup testable framework for automation and white-box testing Bachelor or higher degree (or its equivalent) in Computer science, Computer engineering or a directly related field Love for video games (not just ours!) That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
