As a Research Engineer , you will be an integral member of a systematic trading team comprised of experienced technologists, quantitative researchers, and traders. Your team will work closely to solve challenging technological problems and contribute to our full tech stack, including software design, data engineering, distributed computing, and quantitative modeling. We are looking for quantitatively minded people who are creative technologists, natural programmers, and disciplined engineers eager to develop new technologies that directly impact our business. How you will make an impact: Work with researchers to implement research studies, simulate trading strategies, and develop algorithms to compete in financial markets. Design trading strategy simulation software optimized for distributed computation Develop software for large scale data acquisition, storage, accessibility, and visualization Create user interfaces for data exploration and post trade analysis Accelerate the research lifecycle from strategy prototype to production deployment Evaluate new technology and improve our technology stack What you bring to the team: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field Excellent software development skills in modern C++ and Python A strong understanding of object oriented design, data structures and algorithms A strong understanding of quantitative finance mathematics A solid foundation in programming with the ability to think, communicate, and code clearly A solid understanding of computer systems at every level of abstraction (hardware, OS, memory, network) Skills in multi‐threaded applications An understanding of how to build software for long term use and broad adoption Demonstrated ability to produce algorithmic code in a fast-paced environment The annual base salary range for this position is $175,000 to $225,000, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and relevant skill set. The position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
