Software Engineer (Java) - Screening Team The Screening team is at the heart of this platform, providing a framework for our customers and Adyen to process transactions safely. As Adyen and our merchants scale globally, the complexity of our domain is continuously growing. Our team operates at the critical juncture between regulatory mandate and operational scale within Adyen. We are responsible for mastering the complexities of diverse, global regulatory frameworks, translating complex legal requirements into robust, reliable software and processes. By owning this challenging domain, we assure millions of customers that their transactions are handled through a dependable and compliant framework, allowing them to rely confidently on our platform for their financial needs worldwide. In this role, you will: Build – Help the Screening build solutions that enable Adyen’s global growth in a compliant way. Our roadmap is diverse with solutions across backend, ML/AI and big data. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of your projects, from ideation to productionizing. Innovate – Our team is a pioneer in the Adyen engineering organization, as we are one of the first teams deploying GenAI-powered applications to support other functions of Adyen. This is a new development paradigm that comes with a whole set of new challenges. Collaborate – We rely on good collaboration in order to deliver solutions impacting several parts of Adyen. Set the Team Direction – In our team, engineers actively shape the product roadmap and closely collaborate with the team leadership to ensure our solutions are compliant, complete and scalable. Who You Are: You have 6+ years of professional experience and are currently working as a software engineer. Experience working in cross-functional product teams, part of a larger organization, is a big plus. Our tech stack revolves around java, so being proficient in Java is a plus. The team works across backend and big data. You should be able to comfortably design and productionize cross-stack solutions. You are able to coach other engineers and bring a mindset of learning and curiosity to the team. Very good understanding of industry-standard engineering practices is a must. You have excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in front of different stakeholders. You have the ability to drive a team’s roadmap in close collaboration with the product and engineering leadership of the team. Required technical qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of building Java based web services (RESTful, SOAP) Experienced in designing performant database models in PostgreSQL or other relational database) Knowledgeable of various software architecture paradigms such as event-driven or message queueing systems Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion commitments Our unique approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
