Team The Devops Engineer would be an active member within the Voice Application Services team, responsible for providing automation and test support for the SW releases of Five9. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure as code using tools like Ansible and Terraform Build and manage scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using platforms such as GitLab CI/CD, or similar Automate deployment, monitoring, and operational workflows across distributed systems Collaborate with Development, QA, and Operations teams to ensure seamless delivery and high system reliability Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to improve availability and scalability Develop and maintain reusable automation modules and frameworks Identify inefficiencies in existing processes and drive improvements in automation and operational workflows Work with REST APIs and integrate services across systems and platforms Leverage AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot to improve productivity and code quality Support and manage voice infrastructure components, including protocols such as SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) and RTP (Real-time Transport Protocol) Qualifications & Skills 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering roles (preferably in telecom, SaaS, or service provider environments) Hands-on experience with Ansible and Terraform, including writing and maintaining reusable modules Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP Proficiency in Unix/Linux systems, including CLI-based administration and shell scripting Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, or similar) Demonstrated understanding of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) Familiarity with voice technologies and protocols such as SIP and RTP Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Ability to work effectively in distributed, cross-functional teams Five9 embraces diversity and is committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
