At Sonatus, we’re driving the transformation to AI-enabled software-defined vehicles. Traditional automotive software methods can’t keep pace with consumer expectations shaped by the mobile industry—where features evolve rapidly, update seamlessly, and improve continuously. That’s why leading OEMs trust Sonatus to accelerate this shift. Our technology is already in production across more than 8 million vehicles on the road today and rapidly expanding. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA, with 250+ employees worldwide, Sonatus combines the agility of a fast-growing company with the scale and impact of an established partner. Backed by strong funding and proven by global deployment, we’re solving some of the most interesting and complex challenges in the industry. Join us and help redefine what’s possible as we shape the future of mobility. Role Summary We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop and optimise our core in-vehicle software platform for Sonatus Fastlane Collector and Copilot products. In this role, you will be a key contributor to next-generation vehicle applications, middleware, and platform services running on automotive-grade High-Performance Compute (HPC) platforms. Job Responsibilities Build, maintain, and optimize high-performance in-vehicle applications and connectivity middleware, ensuring low latency and high-throughput data transfer between vehicles and the cloud. Implement and support robust platform services responsible for system-wide resource management, health monitoring, and lifecycle management. Troubleshoot and root-cause issues across development, testing, and production environments. Author comprehensive unit and integration tests. Conduct code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality. Adhere to established development processes and create clear design documents to facilitate design reviews and knowledge sharing. Requirements 5+ years of professional software development experience. A bachelor's degree in computer science, maths, physics, or a similar field. Strong proficiency in modern C++ (C++14/17), with a deep understanding of RAII, smart pointers, multithreading, inter-process communication, and memory management in resource-constrained environments. Hands-on experience developing, cross-compiling, testing, and debugging on Embedded Linux. Experience with Android, QNX, and other POSIX-compliant operating systems is a plus. Experience writing automated unit and integration tests using modern C++ testing frameworks and Python. Experience with modern transport protocols (HTTP, MQTT) and serialization formats (Protobuf, FlatBuffers, JSON). Exposure to vehicle network/diagnostic standards (CAN, Ethernet, SOME/IP, UDS) or automotive industry standards such as Adaptive AUTOSAR is a plus. Familiarity with Rust is a plus. A team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

24,795 developer jobs are open right now

Here's where they are and how to stand out in your next interview.

That number includes positions in India (9,577), Poland (3,429), the United States (1,753), Singapore (787), and Brazil (779). If you're looking to move or work remotely, check which countries match your goals — then filter WorkMundi by location to see what's actually hiring near you.

Most developer ads you'll see are written in English: 18,397 of the 24,795. That doesn't tell you whether the job itself requires you to speak English or work in English daily, so read each posting carefully. Don't assume the language of the ad matches the language of the team.

The employers posting the most developer roles are Link Group (369 jobs), Upvanta (257), jobgether (226), and OfferZen (212). If you're applying to any of these, research their hiring patterns. They move fast and post often, which means they're either scaling hard or replacing people who didn't fit.

In your interview, expect this: 'Walk me through the last time you had to debug something that took you more than an hour. What was it, what did you try first, and what would you do differently?' Hiring managers ask this to see if you think systematically or just try random fixes. Have a real example ready with specifics.
