Reporting to the Expert System Engineering Manager, the Principal Engineer for Electrostatic Chuck (ESC) is accountable for the design, and delivery of hardware engineering solutions focused on ESC and heaters technology. The Engineer will be responsible for focusing on the development of highly innovative technologies over legacy solutions. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of ESC and heaters hardware platforms and modules. Ensure timely delivery of new components and modules designs including safety, specifications, conceptual configuration, detailed design, factory release, configuration control, and documentation. Support customer-specific designs and product cost reduction initiatives. Drive new technology exploration and development of new processes. Establish budgets and measurable performance indicators for the program/ project Manage engineering projects to meet deliverables, quality, budget, and timing. Foster a collaborative and engaging environment across departments and suppliers. Collaborate with universities, research institutes, and engineering firms for breakthrough technological solutions. Motivated to drive innovation through R&D and create patents. Required Qualifications Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Experience in hardware engineering including semiconductor processing. Expertise in material science including AlN, Al2O3, SiC, and C22 alloys. Understanding of failure modes and process performance behavior. Knowledge of clamping mechanisms and thermal engineering. Experience in vacuum and plasma physics. Proficiency in mechanical design and manufacturing processes. Demonstrated system thinking capabilities. Preferred Skills and Experience Proven ability to create performing components and modules Track record of delivering engineering solutions in multicultural and dynamic environments. Advance thinking and long-term planning. Effective communication across diverse audiences. Team building and networking capabilities. Experience in global organizations. Hands-on R&D experience and familiarity with fab equipment. Supplier management includes communication, negotiation, strategic planning, and problem solving. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
